About Us
Step into Peranakan Place, and you step into a world where history, heritage, and flavour come alive. Nestled in a beautifully preserved Baba-Nyonya terrace house, this cultural gem pays homage to the vibrant Peranakan community that blossomed in the Straits Settlements of Penang, Malacca, and Singapore during the 16th century. Here, the Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Indonesian cultures intertwined, giving birth to a unique identity—the Peranakans, or Straits-born Chinese.

Housed in a meticulously restored Baba-Nyonya terrace house, Peranakan Place offers more than just food—it’s a living museum of Peranakan heritage. The setting alone is a feast for the senses: intricately carved wooden screens, colourful ceramic tiles, vintage furniture, and ornate decor that speaks volumes of a bygone era where every detail, from craftsmanship to hospitality, was steeped in meaning and pride. Dining here is like stepping into a Peranakan home, where hospitality and heritage go hand-in-hand.

Of course, the true star is the food. Nyonya cuisine is famously flavourful and aromatic, blending Chinese ingredients with Malay spices and cooking techniques. Each dish is a handcrafted labour of love, passed down through generations.
