About Us


Steamboat is a popular dish in Malaysia, best to enjoy on any occasion, especially on

rainy days. To enjoy a good pot of steamboat with great flavour, fresh ingredients and

homemade soup base are the keys. Seng Chuan Steamboat Restaurant which opened

its door to the public on 14th April 2016 fits the criteria perfectly. Even though the

ingredients and soup base printed on the menu seem ordinary, yet they are meticulously

prepared by the founders.


In order to run the family business, the second and youngest daughters of the family

chose to forego their high-paying careers and focus on the steamboat business. Both

being the hands-on person, they insist to involve fully in the business, from choosing the

ingredients to preparing the soup base. Their thoughtfulness towards the customers is

reflected in how they put their hearts into the food, so every customer could enjoy the

home-like flavours at Seng Chuan Steamboat Restaurant.



“Our family love steamboat, yet we knew very little about the food & beverage industry.

So what we can do is to offer everything we loved at home into our restaurant,” said the

youngest daughter. The Tomyam and chicken soup base, and the pork belly soup base

(only supply on weekends) are the secret recipes of her mother. “We offer the pork belly

soup base in our menu so the customers could enjoy this home-like flavour which

reminds them of their mothers. It warms the body and the heart, especially great for

those who live far away from home,” she added.



Seng Chuan Steamboat Restaurant offers 45 types of ingredients and 6 types of fried

ingredients. Some of the ingredients are provided by the suppliers, while some are

homemade with “mom’s secret recipe”, such as Stuffed Chilli, Stuffed Tofu Pok,

Dumplings, Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Pork Slice, etc.
