About Us
Gurun is a small town boiling with hospitality. 13 years ago, Lily Ooi began her Western food
business here. At first, she was just operating from a small stall on the street. However, due
to her passion in the food industry, backed with her talent in cooking and her persistency in
the usage of fine ingredients, La Taste grew from a small stall to a restaurant with 2
branches, one in Sungai Petani and another in Butterworth respectively.
For years, La Taste has been holding on to the principle of “providing a great dining
experience” to its customers. With its slogan “Time to Taste”, the restaurant maintains
a menu of varieties, high quality cooking methods and reasonable prices; making them
the “high grade Western food with a fair price tag”.
Without inheritance, all things would disappear with time. Since the “street stall” days,
La Taste has been persistent in the inheritance of taste. For 13 years, Chicken Cordon
Blue remains as the most popular dish for La Taste. That best explained their persistency
in the using of ingredients and cooking methods.
Recently, La Taste won the World Top Gourmet Awards with its Chicken Cordon Blue.
That served as the best recognition and motivation for them to continue their journey in
fullfiling the taste bud of everyone who loves food.
La Taste believes good taste not necessarily comes with expensive ingredients, nor with all
kinds of tricks playing; but to stay true to authenticity, the laughter shared with like-minded
people, and the beautiful rhythms made by the cutlery set on the dining table.
